Samuel Hirszenberg

Samuel Hirszenberg was born in Łódź, Poland, to a Jewish family and studied in Kraków, Munich and Paris. His large paintings show the suffering and hopes of Jewish people in Eastern Europe. In 1907 he moved to Jerusalem to teach at the new Bezalel art school. He died there the next year.
