Franz Anton Maulbertsch was an Austrian painter born in Langenargen on Lake Constance in 1724. He lived in Vienna and became the greatest painter of the Austrian Rococo, famous for his colorful ceiling paintings in churches and palaces. He died in Vienna in 1796.
