Pastoral Pleasure

Jean-Antoine Watteau · 1714

Why it's great

Elegant couples relax in a shady park, with music and a picnic and a summer glow. Jean-Antoine Watteau painted it in about 1714, and it is an example of the fête galante, a picture of a garden party.
