The Defenestration of Prague
Václav Brožík · 1890
Why it's great
In 1618 angry Protestant nobles threw two Catholic officials out of a window of Prague Castle. They survived by landing in a pile of rubbish, but it started the Thirty Years' War. The Czech painter Václav Brožík painted the dramatic scene in 1890.
