Museo de Arte de Lima (MALI)
Peru's main art museum shows 3,000 years of Peruvian art, from pre-Inca ceramics to colonial paintings, in a palace built for the 1872 Lima Exhibition.
History of the museum
The museum opened in 1961 in the Palacio de la Exposición, a stately building from the 1870s in Lima's Parque de la Exposición. Its collection runs from ancient Paracas and Nazca textiles to Peruvian modern painters. It has a famous collection of colonial religious painting from the Cusco school.
