Petit Palais

📍 Paris, France · Founded 1902

A little palace with a gorgeous garden courtyard near the Champs-Élysées, built for the 1900 World's Fair and now the City of Paris's Museum of Fine Arts, free to enter.

History of the museum

The Petit Palais was built by Charles Girault for the Exposition Universelle of 1900, along with the Grand Palais opposite. It became a museum for the city's collections in 1902. It holds works by Courbet, Monet, Delacroix and many Paris painters, and its building is one of the best examples of 1900 Beaux-Arts architecture.
