Eidsvold 1814
Oscar Wergeland Β· 1885
Why it's great
The men who wrote Norway's constitution in 1814 gather in a hall at Eidsvoll, in a big group scene. Oscar Wergeland painted this to commemorate the founding of modern Norway, which Norwegians celebrate every year on May 17. It shows the 112 delegates at work. It's a very important painting for Norwegians.
