National Gallery of Victoria
Australia's oldest and most visited art museum has Australian and international art, with its famous Great Hall and its stained-glass ceiling, and a wall of water at the entrance.
History of the museum
The gallery was founded in 1861 in the gold-rush city of Melbourne, then one of the richest cities in the world. It moved to its present building by Roy Grounds in 1968. Its Great Hall has a stained-glass ceiling made by Leonard French.
