Around the Piano

Henri Fantin-Latour · 1885

Why it's great

A group of friends listen as a woman plays the piano, with the lamp light on their faces. Fantin-Latour painted musicians who were friends with the composer Chabrier. The calm group makes a scene of music. It's a lovely portrait of friends.
