Bedtime

Paul Peel Β· 1890

Why it's great

A mother in a dark dress holds her small daughter on her lap in a quiet, tender moment at the end of the day. Paul Peel, a Canadian painter who became a star in Paris, was famous for warm pictures of home and childhood. The soft light and gentle pose make it feel cozy. It's a sweet picture of love at bedtime.
