David Milne Β· 1914

Why it's great

A quiet, simple painting in dark tones, with bold shapes. David Milne painted both in New York and in the Canadian woods, always using a thin, delicate touch. He is now considered one of Canada's most important modern painters. It's an early example of his inventive style.
