McMichael Canadian Art Collection
A log-and-stone gallery in the woods north of Toronto devoted to the Group of Seven and their circle, including a cabin shack that belonged to Tom Thomson and the graves of several of the painters.
History of the museum
Robert and Signe McMichael began collecting Group of Seven paintings in the 1950s and in 1966 gave their log-and-stone house and 194 paintings to the province of Ontario, so that everyone could see the art in the setting that had inspired it. The collection now holds thousands of works, including Indigenous and Inuit art. Tom Thomson's own shack was moved to the grounds in 1962.
