Hikone screen
Unknown artist Β· 1700
Why it's great
A folding screen is painted with scenes of ladies and men at play in Kyoto, with music, games and gorgeous kimonos. An unknown artist painted it in about 1624, and it gives a lively view of life in Japan in the early Edo period.
