Le Conseil souverain
Charles Huot Β· 1925
Why it's great
Officials in wigs and robes gather around a big table in the early government of New France. Charles Huot painted this huge scene of Canadian history, which hangs in the Quebec legislature. It shows how the French colony of Canada was governed in the 1600s. It's a grand history painting.
