Portrait of Eleanor of Toledo and her son Giovanni de' Medici
Bronzino Β· 1544
Why it's great
A duchess in a gold-embroidered dress rests her hand on her little son's shoulder, and the two look calm and cool. Bronzino painted them in about 1544, and her dress alone cost a fortune.
