The Fight Between Carnival and Lent

Pieter Brueghel the Elder Β· 1559

Why it's great

A fat man on a barrel with a roast pig on a spit fights a thin woman on a cart with fish and bread, in a crowded town square. Pieter Bruegel the Elder painted it in 1559, and it shows the end of the party time before Lent.
