The Fall of the Rebel Angels

Pieter Brueghel the Elder Β· 1562

Why it's great

Angels in armor fight and tumble out of heaven, and as they fall they change into monsters and fish. Pieter Bruegel the Elder painted it in 1562, and the strange creatures are inspired by Hieronymus Bosch.
