The Peasant Wedding

Pieter Brueghel the Elder Β· 1568

Why it's great

Villagers at a wedding feast sit at a rough wooden table, and servants carry in bowls of porridge on a door, while a piper stands nearby. Pieter Bruegel the Elder painted it in about 1568, and the bride sits quietly under a green cloth.
