The Spanish Wedding

Mariano Fortuny Marsal Β· 1870

Why it's great

A crowd in rich costumes gathers in a church for a wedding in 18th-century Spain, with silk, lace and lots of tiny details. Fortuny painted it in glittering color. It sold for a huge price when it was shown. It's a dazzling showpiece.
