Eugène Hamel · 1906

Why it's great

A portrait of a Huron-Wendat man, painted by Eugène Hamel, a Quebec artist. The Huron-Wendat have lived in the Quebec area for centuries. Painters of the time often recorded the faces of Indigenous people they knew. It's a quiet, dignified portrait.
