Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec
Quebec's national fine arts museum, set on the Plains of Abraham, tells the story of Quebec's art from the colonial period to today, with the largest collection of Quebec art in the world.
History of the museum
The museum opened in 1933 as the Musée du Québec, in a neoclassical building on the Plains of Abraham, the very battlefield of 1759. It has been expanded several times, with new pavilions in 2002 and 2016. It is known for paintings by Cornelius Krieghoff, Jean Paul Lemieux and Jean Paul Riopelle.
