Paysage au monument à Wolfe

Joseph Légaré · 1845

Why it's great

A quiet landscape with a monument that honors General Wolfe, who died at the Battle of the Plains of Abraham in 1759. Joseph Légaré painted this in Quebec City, near the site. It is a calm picture with a big history behind it. It's an early Canadian landscape.
