View of Dresden by Moonlight

Johan Christian Dahl · 1839

Why it's great

The city of Dresden shines in the silver light of the moon, with its domes and towers by the river. Johan Christian Dahl lived in Dresden for most of his life. He painted the moonlight with great beauty. It's a magical night view of an old city.
