Breton church

Emily Carr Β· 1906

Why it's great

A stone church stands in a village in Brittany, France, painted in warm, soft colors. Emily Carr, a Canadian painter from British Columbia, studied in France in the early 1900s. She was inspired by the strong colors and shapes of French painting. It's from the years before she became known for her Pacific Coast paintings.
