Community House Ucluelet
Emily Carr Β· 1912
Why it's great
A big wooden community house stands in the village of Ucluelet on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Emily Carr visited the village in 1912 and painted the building with bold, simple shapes. She wanted to record the Indigenous villages that were changing quickly. It's an important historical record as well as a painting.
