The Town

August Strindberg Β· 1903

Why it's great

A dark city of tall, gabled buildings sits under a stormy blue-black sky. August Strindberg, the famous Swedish playwright, also painted wild, moody landscapes. The thick paint and dramatic mood are unlike anything else of his time. It's a picture from a writer's imagination.
