Berlin Street Scene
Ernst Ludwig Kirchner Β· 1913
Why it's great
Two women in feathery hats and black dresses stand on a city street, with sharp angular shapes and men crowding around. Kirchner painted Berlin in 1913 in the Expressionist style, with jagged lines and acid colors. It shows the energy and tension of a big city. It's a landmark of German art.
