Horsewoman

Karl Bryullov · 1832

Why it's great

A young woman in a dark riding dress and hat sits on her rearing horse in a flurry of motion, as a little girl looks on from the veranda. Karl Bryullov painted his friend's ward. The horse and rider are painted with great drama. It's one of his most famous portraits.
