Launching the Boat. Skagen

Oscar Björck · 1884

Why it's great

Fishermen push a boat into the sea from the beach at Skagen, in the bright light of the north. Oscar Björck, a Swedish painter, spent time with the artists' colony in Skagen. The scene shows real work by the shore. It's a lively picture of fishing life.
