Vasily Polenov Β· 1878

Why it's great

A sunny corner of old Moscow, with a church, houses with a green garden, and a woman with a child. Polenov painted a bright summer day. The warm tones and the clear light were new in Russian art. It's one of the most loved Russian paintings.
