As one gets old
Jozef Israëls · 1878
Why it's great
An elderly woman sits by a fire, resting in a plain room, with a quiet, tired face. Jozef Israëls loved to paint simple people with great dignity. The title comes from a Dutch saying about growing old. It's a thoughtful look at old age.
