Kunstmuseum Den Haag
The art museum of The Hague, in an elegant brick building by the architect Berlage, holds the largest collection of Piet Mondrian's work in the world, including his last paintings, Victory Boogie Woogie.
History of the museum
The museum started in 1866 as a municipal collection and moved to a building by H. P. Berlage, which opened in 1935. Mondrian, who was Dutch, spent much of his life in Paris, London and New York, and his friend Salomon Slijper kept a big group of his paintings, which came to the museum in 1946, so that the museum could trace his path from landscapes to pure abstraction.
