Coffee Table

Osman Hamdi Bey Β· 1879

Why it's great

A richly decorated Ottoman room, with a low table, rugs and a few people in colorful robes. Osman Hamdi Bey was a leading Ottoman painter and also the founder of Turkey's first archaeological museum. He painted objects and patterns with the same care he gave to his scientific work. It's a window into a Turkish home.
