The Blue Room

Suzanne Valadon · 1923

Why it's great

A woman in striped trousers sits on a bed with a pipe and some books, in a blue room, as a pattern on the cover. Suzanne Valadon painted a modern, independent woman. The bold colors and shapes are cheerful. It's a famous painting by a pioneering woman artist.
