The Entombment

Dieric Bouts Β· 1450

Why it's great

Friends lay Christ's body in the tomb in a rocky place, with each face showing sorrow. Dieric Bouts painted it in about 1450, and it was done in a thin, watery paint called distemper on linen rather than oil on wood.
