The Agony in the Garden

Andrea Mantegna Β· 1450

Why it's great

Jesus kneels on a hill at night while his friends sleep nearby and soldiers gather in the distance. Andrea Mantegna painted this in about 1450, and the sharp rocks and golden sunrise make it unforgettable.
