The Last Supper
Leonardo da Vinci · 1498
Why it's great
Leonardo painted the moment Jesus tells his twelve friends that one of them will betray him, and each gesture shows a different reaction. He painted it on a wall in Milan in about 1495–1498 and used perspective to draw every line toward Jesus.
