A Japanese Lantern
Oda Krohg · 1886
Why it's great
A woman sits in a room lit by a glowing paper lantern, with soft colors. Oda Krohg, a Norwegian painter and a leading figure in the Kristiania bohemians, painted this in 1886. Japanese objects were very fashionable in the 1880s. It's a lovely and modern picture.
