Alegoría del trabajo y Alegoría de la construcción
Saturnino Herrán Guinchard · 1910
Why it's great
Two panels show workers building and creating, in a bold, simple style. Saturnino Herrán was a Mexican painter who wanted to celebrate Mexico's own people and history instead of copying European art. He died young, at 31, in 1918. His works helped inspire the great muralists who came after him.
