Donkey Rider
August Macke · 1914
Why it's great
A man in red rides a donkey under trees and a sky of bright colors, in a scene Macke painted in 1914 after a trip to Tunisia. He traveled there with his friends Paul Klee and Louis Moilliet and it changed how he used color.
