Esther before Ahasuerus

Artemisia Gentileschi Β· 1629

Why it's great

Queen Esther, in a rich blue gown, faints in front of the king when she asks him to save her people, and the king rushes to hold her. Artemisia Gentileschi painted it in about 1629, and the golden clothes and curtains are painted with care.
