Magdalena Ventura with Her Husband and Son
Jusepe de Ribera · 1631
Why it's great
A woman with a full beard nurses a baby, while her husband stands behind her, and a long Latin text describes her story. Jusepe de Ribera painted her in 1631 because she was famous for having a beard, and he painted her with dignity.
