Massacre of the Innocents
Guido Reni Β· 1611
Why it's great
Soldiers on a stage-like street try to take away babies from their mothers, in a very tense moment. Guido Reni painted it in 1611, and it is one of the best examples of a graceful and balanced Italian Baroque painting.
