Monarch of the Glen

Edwin Landseer Β· 1851

Why it's great

A stag with huge antlers stands proudly on a Scottish hillside, with a misty mountain behind. Landseer's painting became an icon of Scotland and appeared in many advertisements. It was meant to hang in the House of Lords. It's one of the most famous animal paintings ever.
