Preparing for the Matinee

Edmund Charles Tarbell Β· 1907

Why it's great

A woman in a gown sits in a room and prepares to go out, in a calm and elegant room. Edmund Tarbell was a Boston painter who made graceful pictures of women at home. The light and the quiet mood are lovely. It's a charming piece of American Impressionism.
