The Seven Sacraments
Rogier van der Weyden · 1440
Why it's great
Inside a huge church, scenes show the seven holy ceremonies of the Catholic Church, like baptism, marriage and last rites. Rogier van der Weyden painted this triptych in about 1440, and the crucifixion rises right through the middle.
