Portrait of a Young woman with a Winged Bonnet

Rogier van der Weyden · 1440

Why it's great

A young woman wears a bonnet that looks like it has wings, and she looks down with her hands pressed together. Rogier van der Weyden painted this portrait in about 1440, and she remains a mystery.
