Portrait of Cardinal Ludovico Trevisan

Andrea Mantegna · 1457

Why it's great

A cardinal with a big nose and a strong jaw looks calmly at you. Andrea Mantegna painted it in about 1457, and he made the old man's skin look as real as stone.
