Madonna of the Dry Tree
Petrus Christus Β· 1462
Why it's great
Mary and the baby Jesus stand in front of a dry tree with a small fountain, and angels nearby. Petrus Christus painted it in about 1462, and the dead tree is a sign that Christ will bring new life.
