Flagellation of Christ

Piero della Francesca Β· 1459

Why it's great

Christ is whipped in a calm, tidy room on the left, while three men stand and talk in a street on the right. Piero della Francesca painted this puzzle in about 1459, and no one is sure who the three men are.
